Pride… A Day At the African American History Museum

Today was a good day for me. I had the time to go down to the Reginald F. Lewis Museum and soak up some information. It seems like no matter how many times i take a trip to that museum, I glean something new with every visit. Today , one of the things that constantly caught my eye were the quotes inscibed above the exhbits. Each quote told a story. Here are a few quotes that caught my eye and a special treat for all of my #HBCU students in Maryland– they dedicated an entire section to us and our tradition of excellence  🙂 Enjoy this history lesson and these pieces of inspiration as much as I did.

Collegetown Baltimore Leadershape Class 2010-2011

I cannot believe its been over a year since I participated in Collegetown Leadershape! I can honestly say that it has been one of the most memorable summer experiences I have had thus far, as regards to leadership and development. The Baltimore Collegetown LeaderShape program connects students across campuses and with their communities to make a better Baltimore. The program is designed for students who have a passion for service and want to be civic-minded leaders–it starts with a week of leadership development and is followed by programming and support throughout an academic year. Students will not only develop visions, but learn to be visionary, and discover how to apply their skills and passions to our city.

Big shoutout and lots of Leadershape love to BALTIMORE CLASS #1 … We paved the path 🙂

Go EAGLES! Coppin State University Open House Fall 2011

In case you didnt know, I bleed old gold and reflux blue! I am a proud Lady Eagle currently matriculating at Coppin State University. Currently, I serve as a student ambassador and I want to personally invite my GLAMs interested in Coppin State to our Fall 2011 open house 🙂 Open House is Friday, December 2, 2011. The event will be held from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. All pre-registered students will receive a complementary ticket for lunch in the dining hall. Check-in for the Fall Open House begins at 8:30 am in the James Weldon Johnson Auditorium. We hope to see you there!

West Coast Drama: Basketball Wives LA Premieres August 29 @8pm on VH1

Just when you dont think you can handle any more…BOOM…. VH1 manages to drop another guilty pleasure “celeb-reality” show on us. Im sure everyone will be glued to the TV for the premiere of Basketball Wives LA on August 29, 2011. This season will highlight the lives of Gloria Govan ( fiancee of Matt Barnes of the LA Lakers ) , Jackie Christie ( wife of Doug Christie, former player of the LA Clippers ), Kimisha Artest (wife of Doug Christie, former player of the LA Clippers ), Imani Showalter ( ex-fiancee of Stephen Jackson of the Golden State Warriors) and Laura Govan ( ex-fiancee of Gilbert Arenas of the Orlando Magic ). Something tells me those Govan sisters ( yes, these two are sisters ) are gonna be the source of much DRAMA! Hmm…hopefully Shin Shin ( the reported mistress of Ron Artest) shows up and will stir something up, in the sake of ratings!

Im hoping to see a cameo or two from some other LA Basketball Wives as well; possibly Monica (wife of Shannon Brown of the LA Lakers ) Khloe Odom ( wife of Lamar Odom of the LA Lakers ), Vanessa Bryant ( wife of Kobe Bryant ) ! VH1 we want more wives, and the occasional jumpoff, ex fiancee or deranged baby mother! Lol….Im sure I wont be the only one tuning in!

With a release date only a couple weeks away, Kelly Rowland gives us a taste of what her forthcoming third studio album, Here I Am will sound like.

The new album, which naturally is led by the #1 single, “Motivation” is slated to hit stores July 26th, in both the standard and deluxe forms. The deluxe edition will include 4 other tracks, which aren’t made available on the album’s preview.

1 Minute Left– Amber Rose Extends Her 15 Minutes of Fame by Baring Her Lady Parts

Just when we dont think this chick has any more scandal left in her– #BOOM. Rumors and naked pictures of Amber Rose’s lady parts surfaced yesterday; the raw, unedited photos were released today. Personally, I am shocked and appalled.

A part of me doesnt want to feed into the frenzy but the other part of me wants to releases this info, because it serves as a cautionary tale; this is what happens when you dont get enough attention– any attention becomes good attention. Welp, Im gonna hop off my soap box, and continue saving the world.
